All starter motors are tried and tested before they make it into production, making sure they are resistant to everyday weather conditions and therefore increasing the life of the starter motor. You may not always require a whole new starter motor it can just be the case you need new brushes, if your starter motor is loud, squeaky or inconsistent in performance it can also be that the bearing has seized. Most of the time a replacement bearing and seal can be supplied along with new brushes, if no kit is available then the only only option is to then replace the whole starter motor.
